Golfism -life is a metaphor for golf

I’ve been on Twitter for about a month now, and finding it a useful expressive outlet. The above text icon is a golf ball with angel wings. These usually come about as I’m waiting for something to happen -usually a case to start, or a phone call to come in. GolfGirl has collected some of these on her excellent blog site (link). I look forward to the day I can communicate purely in my private hieroglyphic.

Here are some that come to mind:

1. /. is teed up
2. ≈O≈ is island green or focus
3. 8 is of course snow man
4. @ is ball in the hole
5. ~o is putting the ball in motion
6. # is wearing plaid

To these I’ve added docmoticons -symbols of whatever I’m doing while I’m not a golfist, ie. a surgeon

1. & is sitting hunched over reading the iPhone
2. } { is talking to people
3. “(  ) is a thought bubble

so when I tweet, &”(/.), it means, I’m sitting with my iPhone, thinking about getting teed up. Or, } {“(~o), means I’m talking to this person, but I’m thinking about getting the ball in motion.

I’ve added another one on Facebook -don’t know which category it fits.
